How To Get There
Location: A short distance west of Pha Thiew town, Pha Thiew district.
Directions: From Chumphon town centre head north along highway 3180 and follow the signs to Pha Thiew town (written as "Pa Thiu" on all the road signs). The route takes you north-east past Thung Wua Laen beach. Once you reach Pha Thiew town, look for the signs to Khao Plu.
Khao Plu cave and temple are around 45km from the centre of Chumphon town.
This is one of the many caves in Chumphon province, and contains one of the many temples.
Thum Khao Plu Temple is adjacent to Khao plu Mountain Range.
So, this is the source of the temple's name . Khao plu Cave is clearly seen on the hillside. The entrance of the temple is seen from the road which rested at the same line. The cave curves deep into the mountain and the floor has been elevated . The stair to the cave is about 50 m high. Khao Plu Cave is the housing place of the Buddha lmage. About 100 m left of the cave is the path to Num Thip Cave with the pond of 6 m wide and 15 m long.
Another attraction of Khao plu Cave is to see the langur (genus Presbytis) dwelling on Khao plu and climb down to find food and play at the temple area. Moreover, you can visit Tham Than Lod Temple not far from Tham Khao Plu Temple and the home of the langur (about 500 m ).
