How To Get There

Location: near Chumphon provincial centre, Muang district
Directions: Sairee beach is about 20km from the town centre along highway 4119 and 4099.
Sairee Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Chumphon province for Thai people. Plenty of places to eat, plus the Kromluang Chumphon shrine. It can get busy, especially at weekends and during holidays.
The beach itself is long and curved, and although it is mainly sand there are a few rocky stretches. Because of the proximity to the river mouth there is a lot of silt (or mud), and the water here is not very clear.
The beach is backed by a sloping sea wall with steps leading up to the road, where you'll find the restaurants and food vendors.
If Sairee beach doesn't appeal to you, there are many other beaches in Chumphon province you could try.
Khao Chao Muang Viewpoint
There's a good viewpoint at the top of Khao Chao Muang, about a kilometre south of the beach along the road to Pu Som bridge. There's a pavilion overlooking the Chumphon Sea from where you can easily spot Koh MaPrao, the nearest island.
There's also a 1km nature trail with various information signs along it. It should take about 30 minutes to walk the trail.
